Ingredients

  • 1 cup blueberries
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 2 inch knob ginger peeled and chopped
  • 5-7 fresh basil leaves
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • ice cubes
  • 8 oz sparkling water

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine the blueberries, ginger slices, maple syrup, cinnamon, and 3 basil leaves. Let the mixture simmer on medium-high heat for 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the blueberries have broken down and the mixture has thickened.
  • Use an immersion blender to blend the mixture until smooth. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove any solids.
  • In a cocktail shaker, add 4 oz of the blueberry sauce, lime juice, and 2 basil leaves. Muddle the basil leaves to release their flavors. Fill the shaker with ice and stir well to combine and chill the mixture.
  • Using a strainer, pour the cocktail into glasses filled with ice. Top each glass with sparkling water and garnish with additional basil leaves.
