When blood orange season rolls around I find myself looking for ways to use their color and flavor in everything and this Blood Orange Margarita is one of my favorites! Blood oranges have a beautiful ruby color and a subtle floral aroma. They’re slightly tart and less sweet than regular oranges. I love pairing them with a pinch of cinnamon to add warmth—it’s chef’s kiss in a glass.
For a dinner party or just because, this is a winner.

Notes on Ingredients

- Blood Orange Juice: Freshly squeezed blood oranges give the best flavor, but bottled juice works in a pinch. When you squeeze your juice, make sure to strain it so that it comes through easily in the cokctail shaker. make sure to strain out the pulp from the juice with a fine mesh strainer so it makes for an easy pour for your cocktail shaker.
- Triple Sec Substitute: You can swap it with Cointreau or Grand Marnier for a more refined flavor.
